June marathons A marathon is a long distance race that covers the standard distance of 42.195 kilometers.
It is a road race, that is, it does not require particular ground or race track like other races. It was started by Michel Breal in Athens. It became a part of the Olympic in 1896.
The first winner of the marathon is Spyridon Louis Spyros of Greek. Since 1896 this has become a tradition of the Olympic. Every year thousands of participants become contestants around the world. There is also another type of marathon called Half Marathon in which the running distance becomes half of the original marathon.
Due to the reduced distance it is becoming more popular among people and it requires less training as compared to a full marathon.
When the marathon was introduced it had no place for women. If a woman participates in it they do not get recognition. Bobbi Gibbs is the first women to get recognition in the Olympic in 1967.
It is advised to get a proper training before participating in a marathon. The kind of training required for June marathon involves proper nutrition that is rich in protein and carbohydrate. One should daily follow his diet routine to build energy for the race. Eating alone will not get you through if you participate in a June marathon.
