Could Muscle Cars Possibly Make A Reappearance?

Many people can remember their first car, and if you’re about 40 or 50 years old your first car may have been a real American muscle car. These types of vehicles have resulted in people searching all over the United States for old muscle cars that need repair. The biggest reason for this is because nobody makes cars like this anymore. The big issue is when is somebody likely to make a real muscle car again?

Chevy and Ford happen to be launching new editions of Camaro’s and Mustangs ever since the 60′s. The issue is that every year these manufacturers get away from what a genuine muscle car is and they keep filling them with more and more computer equipment. When is anyone going to manufacture a muscle car with a 327 and a 4 barrel carburetor ever again. The sad reality is we will probably never see those categories of cars again.

The main problem is people want to correct things when they are really not faulty in the first place. One good example is the 1967 Camaro, which was one of the greatest muscle cars ever. Even with its level of popularity, Chevy made a decision to stop making this particular version. The same goes for the 1966 Mustang, which is another classic that Ford just decided was not worth making.

Here’s the ironic part. The iconic VW Bug went out of major production in the late seventies, but was introduced a few decades later. The new Beetle sold well despite its ultra modern design. Had they stuck to the old style, they may have sold more. It can’t be helped that these people assume that new is always better.

Among the major concerns is this. If Chevy decided to go retro and build a Camaro with a 327 engine and 4 barrel carburetor and left out all the fancy technology, wouldn’t you want one? I’ve asked hundreds of people throughout the years and the reply was just the same: they would definitely purchase one. So what is the trouble with the manufacturing people? If you have a request for a thing that is back-to-basics, can’t the car companies listen?

When will Ford or GM believe that this may be a good chance to build cars like the good old days? I imagine that they turns into hot specialties. Until Ford and GM understand this, we will have people rooting around scrap yards and the Internet for classic muscle cars to rebuild.

Who knows maybe someday a muscle car enthusiast will end up with an influential position in one of those major automobile companies and be able to talk some sense into them. Sadly the head people at these companies hold this belief, that if they think they are creating new and better muscle car, people will want it.
